So I’m getting a lot of new views on this website and one question I keep hearing is : What are you actually working on?
Fair enough, unless you’ve been following the development of A Memory of Eternity from the beginning (or at least since the Kickstarter) then you would be pretty confused what AMOE actually is. A Memory of Eternity is a narrative-driven RPG series set in a post-singularity sci-fi world. There is the main series (working title: A Memory of Eternity) that follows Jack Fowler, a powerful and inexplicably mysterious shaper. There are also smaller games that I’m working on, one of which is already released. Below is a very rough timeline of what I’m working on and when each of these projects will be finished.
The Singularity Wish (Released)
A narrative heavy, story-driven RPG
Enter the role of Maxis Summers, a junior-level researcher working on an illegal AI development project. When he signed up for the job, he didn’t expect to be working underground, away from his wife and daughter. He also certainly didn’t expect to have to deal with the risk of a technological singularity.
The Singularity Wish is a game about the choices we make. There are no puzzles or turn-based combat, instead the player is confronted with the consequences of their actions… or inaction. Game length is anticipated to run 1-2 hours.
Features
- Hundreds of lines of dialogue, the context of which depends on the choices you make
- A personal story revolving around the technological singularity
- Five different endings, with 15 different variations of the player character’s ultimate fate
You can find it here on Steam.
Stories of the Singularity: Arena
(Anticipated release in January)
Arena is a stand-alone exploration of the Memory Battle System, a combat system inspired by tabletop RPG rules and classic JRPG mechanics. In Arena, players can build their own party of characters from level 1 to 30, surviving one harrowing combat scenario after another until they escape the Arena.
(Anticipated) Features:
- 20 Arena floors with dozens of enemy types, each with their own unique attacks, weaknesses and special abilities.
- Four main classes, complete with multiclassing options.
- Two specializations for each class, as well Class Expertise and Class Mastery options for single-class builds.
- Tactical turn-based grid combat.
- Dozens of weapons, armor, items and resources (like ammo) that can help players turn the tide.
Stories of the Singularity: Survive the Office
(Anticipated release in April)
Survive the Office is a story-driven role-playing game and a direct sequel to The Singularity Wish. Set in the immediate aftermath of a technological singularity, office worker Morgana Mitty finds herself in a dangerous and unpredictable world. Only her own skills and the help of her coworkers will see her survive long enough to find relative safety – but that depends on them working together.
Survive the Office runs on the Memory Battle System, a class-based RPG ruleset inspired by classic tabletop role-playing games.
Setting:
Synda Tower, one of the largest buildings in the city of MoonFall and home to Syndacorp, a leading robotics and AI development firm. The building includes all the amenities of home, including a large shopping center, various restaurants and cafes, a clinic and overnight suites for upper-tier employees.
(Anticipated) Features:
- Post-singularity storyline with deep RPG elements.
- 10 recruitable survivors with their own skills, abilities, and storylines. Take good care of them, if they die, it’s permanent.
A Memory of Eternity (TBA)
Curious about what the RPG system itself looks like? I describe it here.
